CHRISTLINKS INTERNATIONAL CHURCH SPECIAL MIDWEEK TEACHING & COMMUNION SERVICE — 2ND SERVICE TOPIC: EQUIPPED WITH AUTHORITY AND POWER Main Texts: Luke 9:1–2; Acts 1:8
Introduction God's plan for every believer is to be equipped with authority and power to fulfil His purpose. In Luke 9:1–2, Jesus gave His disciples power and authority and sent them to preach the Kingdom of God and heal the sick. Authority is the right to act or represent someone, while power is the ability or enablement to carry out an assignment. Both are necessary for effective Christian living and ministry. 1\. Accessing Spiritual Authority 1\. The born-again experience — John 1:11–12; Acts 19:11–20 Our relationship with Jesus Christ is the foundation of spiritual authority. We must know Christ genuinely rather than treat His name as a formula. 2\. Faith in God — Acts 3:16; Acts 4:29–31 Faith enables us to trust God's Word and act with confidence in His promises. Our confidence must remain in Jesus, not in our personal ability. 3\. Intimacy with God — Psalm 63:1–3 Through prayer, worship, and studying Scripture, we grow closer to God and develop spiritual maturity and sensitivity to His leading. 4\. Service — Luke 9:1–2 God gives authority for His assignments. We must serve faithfully, humbly, and use our gifts to advance His Kingdom. 2\. Accessing Spiritual Power 1\. Intimacy — Psalm 63:1–3 Seek God's presence above material blessings and spiritual recognition. 2\. Prayer — Acts 2:1–6; Acts 4:31–32 Prayer strengthens our dependence on God and prepares us to serve Him boldly. 3\. Fasting — Acts 13:2–3; Isaiah 58:6–8 Fasting helps us focus on God, seek His direction, and align our hearts with His will. 4\. Faith — Acts 6:8 Faith enables us to trust God, stand firm in difficulties, and serve Him courageously. 5\. Word Declaration — Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 29:1–10 God's Word is living and powerful. We must speak Scripture with understanding and allow it to guide our actions. 3\. The Purpose of Authority and Power God equips believers to: * Preach the Gospel and win souls. * Stand firm against evil and temptation. * Serve the Church and help others. * Demonstrate Christlike character. * Fulfil God's purpose faithfully. Spiritual authority and power must be exercised with humility, love, obedience, and accountability. 4\. Communion Reflection Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:23–26 As we partake of Communion, we remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, examine our hearts, and renew our commitment to follow Him faithfully. Prayer Points * Father, deepen my relationship with You. * Lord, help me to walk in the authority You have given Your people. * Holy Spirit, empower me to fulfil my divine assignment. * Father, strengthen my prayer life, faith, and understanding of Your Word. * Lord, make me a faithful instrument for the advancement of Your Kingdom. Conclusion God has called us not merely to be believers but to be effective witnesses of Jesus Christ. Through faith, intimacy with God, prayer, fasting, service, and His Word, we grow in our ability to fulfil His purpose. Declaration: Father, equip me with the authority and power I need to serve You faithfully, represent Christ, and glorify Your name. In Jesus' name, Amen.
